🇬🇧 ENGLISH — "The Situation in the Middle East – What Does It Mean for Your Trip?"
The security situation in the Middle East has changed rapidly, and it is now affecting travellers around the world – including those with holidays planned in the region.
What is happening?
The escalating conflict in the Middle East has spread to several countries, including Israel, the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, and Saudi Arabia. The Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs currently advises against all non-essential travel to Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
What about flights?
Major airlines including Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar Airways have cancelled the majority of their flights to and from the region. This is causing widespread disruption not only for travellers heading to the Middle East, but also for those travelling to Asia and Bali – as many routes connect through Dubai, Abu Dhabi, or Doha.
Flight times to destinations such as Bali, Thailand, and Malaysia may also be 1-2 hours longer than usual, as aircraft are now rerouting around closed airspace.
What should you do?
If you have a trip planned to the region, we recommend that you:
Check the latest travel advice from your national foreign affairs ministry
Contact your airline directly for the latest information on your flight
Look into your options for cancellation or rebooking
Review your travel insurance policy – many policies cover cancellations when official travel warnings are in place
We will continue to keep you updated as the situation develops.
